JLG 1055 Telehandler: Specs, Price and Buying Guide

The JLG 1055 is a 10,000 lb telehandler with a 55 ft maximum lift height and 42 ft of forward reach. With its front stabilizers down, it lifts 5,000 lb to full height and 3,000 lb at full reach, which makes it a go-to machine for placing heavy materials on multi-story job sites.

Specs are from JLG’s current North American spec sheet (revision 09/25) and product page. Earlier 1055 units used a Cummins QSF3.8 engine and are listed at about 31,559 lb, so check the engine plate and load charts on any used machine.

• Front stabilizers: lowering the stabilizers unlocks the full 5,000 lb capacity at height and 3,000 lb at full reach.
• Stabil-Trak rear axle stabilization: helps keep the machine stable when the boom is raised.
• Four steering modes: 4-wheel, circle, crab and 2-wheel front steering for tight job sites.
• 10 degrees of frame leveling: for placing loads on uneven ground.
• Single joystick controls: a spacious ROPS/FOPS cab with an integrated armrest and good visibility, with an optional enclosed cab and A/C.
• ClearSky telematics: standard on current units for location, hours and fault codes.
• Attachments: carriages, buckets, truss booms, lifting hooks, pipe grapples and a fork-mounted work platform, with up to 25 gpm of auxiliary flow at the boom head.
• Options: load stability indication (LSI), reverse camera and sensing, ride control, an Arctic package and LED work lights.

The JLG 1055’s closest rivals are the Genie GTH-1056 and SkyTrak 10054, both 10,000 lb telehandlers in the 55 ft class.

The 1055 and GTH-1056 have the same capacity at height and reach, but the 1055 needs its stabilizers down to reach those ratings, while the GTH-1056 is a little taller. The SkyTrak 10054, also built by JLG, is the more compact, simpler option, and SkyTrak redesigned its telehandlers in 2026. Need more capacity? The JLG 1255 lifts 12,000 lb to the same 55 ft class height (see our JLG 1255 guide). For smaller jobs, the JLG 943 lifts 9,000 lb to about 43 ft.

New JLG 1055 telehandlers list for about $185,000 from dealers advertising 2024 and 2025 units. Used units cost much less: most JLG 1055 listings on FleetNow are 2016 to 2019 models with a typical price around $80,000.

Used prices are FleetNow asking prices from the first 40 JLG 1055 listings in October 2026; typical price is the median. Most listed units show about 2,350 to 4,450 hours. New prices are advertised dealer prices and change often.

What drives the price of a used JLG 1055:

• Year and hours: newer units with fewer hours sell for much more.
• Cab and options: an enclosed cab with heat and A/C, LSI, cameras and attachments add value.
• Condition: boom wear, leaks, tires and stabilizer condition affect value.
• Records: service history and a current annual inspection support a higher price.

• Serial plate and engine: confirm the model year and whether it has the Cummins or Deutz engine, and make sure the correct load charts are in the cab.
• Boom: extend and retract fully, and check the wear pads, side play and any drifting. Look for cracks or welds at the boom, carriage and pivot.
• Stabilizers: lower and raise both stabilizers, check the cylinders for leaks and make sure the pads and pins are not damaged.
• Cylinders and hoses: check the lift, extend, tilt and frame-level cylinders for leaks and damaged chrome.
• Engine and emissions: check for hard starting, leaks and warning codes, and ask for DEF and aftertreatment service records.
• Transmission, axles and brakes: run through every gear, test the service and parking brakes, and look for leaks at the hubs and differentials.
• Steering and leveling: test all four steering modes and level the frame both ways.
• Telematics and fault codes: ask for the ClearSky history and any stored fault codes.
• Tires and records: check the tires for cuts and wear, and ask for service history, the annual inspection and the serial number so a JLG dealer can check for open safety bulletins.
