JLG 1200SJP Telescopic Boom Lift: Specs, Price and Buying Guide
Last updated: October 2026
The JLG 1200SJP is a 120 ft telescopic boom lift from JLG’s Ultra Series. It reaches a 126 ft working height and 75 ft of horizontal outreach, carries up to 1,000 lb in its restricted range, and has an 8 ft JibPLUS jib that articulates up and down and swings side to side. It is one of the tallest self-propelled boom lifts in common use, built for high steel, tall facades, stadiums and industrial plants.
This guide covers the 1200SJP’s specs and features, how it compares to other 120 to 135 ft boom lifts, what it sells for used on FleetNow, and what to check before you buy one.

JLG 1200SJP Key Features
- Dual capacity: The platform carries 1,000 lb within a restricted range or 500 lb across the full working envelope. That lets crews bring heavier tools and materials up when the work is closer in.
- JibPLUS jib: The 8 ft jib moves 130° up and down and 180° side to side, so operators can reach over obstacles and position the platform without moving the whole machine.
- Fast lift: JLG rates the 1200SJP to go from the ground to 120 ft in about 95 seconds.
- High-strength steel boom: The boom is built from 100,000 psi steel, which keeps it stiff at full extension.
- Extendable axles: The axles retract to 8 ft 2 in for transport and extend to 12 ft 6 in for stability at height.
- 4WD and steering modes: Full-time four-wheel drive and 45% gradeability help on rough job sites, with selectable steering modes for tight spaces.
- Telematics: Newer units come with an LED motion/amber beacon and ClearSky Smart Fleet connectivity hardware for tracking location, hours and fault codes.
JLG 1200SJP vs Similar Boom Lifts
| Model | Platform height | Horizontal outreach | Capacity (restricted / unrestricted) | Weight | FleetNow used price (middle half) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JLG 1200SJP | 120 ft | 75 ft | 1,000 lb / 500 lb | 40,900 lb | $79,950 to $109,950 |
| JLG 1350SJP | 135 ft | 80 ft | 1,000 lb / 500 lb | 45,000 lb | $100,000 to $181,000 |
| Genie SX-125 XC | 125 ft | 80 ft | 1,000 lb / 660 lb | 45,640 lb | $69,850 to $133,900 (4 listings) |
The JLG 1350SJP is the 1200SJP’s taller sibling (see our JLG 1350SJP guide). It adds 15 ft of height and 5 ft of outreach for about 4,000 lb more weight and a higher used price. The Genie SX-125 XC sits between them on height and carries 660 lb across its full range, the most of the three. On a tighter budget, older Genie S-125 lifts list on FleetNow for about $44,000 to $85,000. If you need to reach up and over obstacles, compare the articulating JLG 1250AJP. For lighter jobs, an 86 ft JLG 860SJ costs far less to buy and transport.

JLG 1200SJP Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 120 ft platform height and 75 ft outreach | Weighs about 40,900 lb, so it needs a heavy-haul trailer and permits in many states |
| 1,000 lb restricted capacity for heavy tools and materials | Only 500 lb across the full envelope (the Genie SX-125 XC carries 660 lb) |
| 8 ft jib with 130° vertical and 180° horizontal movement | Large footprint with axles extended (12 ft 6 in wide) |
| Fast lift to full height (about 95 seconds) | High repair costs if the boom, sensors or load-sensing system need work |
| Lower used prices than the 1350SJP | Few listings at any one time, so finding the right unit can take a while |
For most buyers, the trade-off is height versus cost and transport. If 120 ft covers your work, the 1200SJP is usually cheaper to buy and move than a 135 ft lift.
Common Uses for the JLG 1200SJP

JLG 1200SJP Price
Here is what used JLG 1200SJPs list for on FleetNow by model year. These are asking prices from 9 priced listings in October 2026, and they change often.
| Model year | FleetNow asking price |
|---|---|
| 2005 to 2006 | $79,950 |
| 2009 | $77,000 |
| 2010 | $89,950 to $99,950 |
| 2018 | $79,950 to $139,900 |
| 2019 | $109,950 to $187,900 |
Most listings fall between $79,950 and $109,950, with a midpoint around $90,000. Hours on these units ranged from about 740 to 3,800. Condition, hours, inspection history and whether the jib and load-sensing systems work properly matter more than model year alone. JLG dealers price new 1200SJPs by quote.
What to Check Before Buying a Used JLG 1200SJP
- Annual inspection and service records: Ask for the most recent annual inspection and any boom, jib or turntable repairs.
- Boom wear pads and sections: Look for scoring, uneven wear and play between sections, and listen for chatter as the boom extends.
- Jib and rotator: Run the jib through its full up, down and side-to-side range and check the platform rotator for drift.
- Turntable bearing: Check for excess rock or noise when the boom swings.
- Hydraulics: Look for leaks at cylinders, hoses and the swing motor, and check the oil for contamination.
- Axle extension and oscillation: Extend and retract the axles and confirm the interlocks prevent lifting with the axles retracted.
- Load sensing, tilt alarm and controls: Test every function from both the ground and platform controls, including the emergency stop and auxiliary lowering.
- Engine and emissions: Check for smoke, warning lights and, on Tier 4 units, a clean DPF and DEF system history.
- Tires and chassis: Inspect the foam-filled tires for chunking and the frame for cracks or weld repairs.
Buying from a distance? Ask the seller for photos of the hour meter, serial plate and spec decal, and a video of the boom and jib at full extension. The FleetNow Inspect app can help you document a machine’s condition.

JLG 1200SJP FAQs
The JLG 1200SJP has a 120 ft platform height and a 126 ft working height. It reaches 75 ft of horizontal outreach, and its 8 ft jib adds up-and-over positioning at the top of the boom.
The platform is rated for 1,000 lb in the restricted range and 500 lb across the full working envelope. The load-sensing system on newer units limits the boom when the platform is over the restricted rating.
On FleetNow in October 2026, used JLG 1200SJPs listed from $77,000 to $187,900, with most between $79,950 and $109,950. Older 2005 to 2010 units sit at the low end and 2018 to 2019 units at the high end. See current JLG 1200SJP listings.
A current JLG 1200SJP weighs about 40,900 lb. That usually means hauling it on a lowboy or heavy-haul trailer, and many states require an oversize or overweight permit.
The JLG 1350SJP reaches a 135 ft platform height and 80 ft of outreach, compared with 120 ft and 75 ft on the 1200SJP. Both carry 1,000 lb restricted and 500 lb unrestricted. The 1350SJP weighs about 45,000 lb and usually costs more used.
Current units use a Deutz TCD2.9 L4 Tier 4 Final diesel rated at 74.2 hp, with a 31 gal fuel tank. Older units have earlier Deutz engines, so check the engine plate and emissions tier on any used lift.
