Howie K., a seasoned mechanic at OHR Rents in Cleveland, Ohio, recently shared his insights on the JLG 660SJ, a machine he’s come to trust in his 30-plus years of experience. With a career spent servicing equipment from industry giants like JLG, Genie, SkyTrak, Skyjack, and Lull, Howie’s perspective carries significant weight.
According to Howie, the JLG 660SJ stands out as a remarkably reliable piece of equipment that’s also a breeze to service. When asked how it stacks up against similar models from other manufacturers, Howie didn’t hesitate to praise its performance: “There’s no comparison, really… they’re smoother and rather quick,” he said, highlighting the efficiency and ease of use that sets the 660SJ apart.
But what truly sets this machine above the rest for Howie is his long-standing preference for JLG as a brand. “For my money, it’s the only way to go,” he concludes, reaffirming his trust in JLG as the go-to choice for heavy equipment.

JLG 660SJ vs. Other 60–66 ft Telescopic Boom Lifts
Here’s how the 660SJ compares with other common 60–66 ft telescopic booms.
| Model | Platform Height | Horizontal Outreach | Capacity (Restricted / Unrestricted) | Weight | Jib |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| JLG 670SJ | 66 ft 10 in | 57 ft 1 in | 750 / 550 lb | Not published | Yes (self-leveling chassis) |
| Genie S-65 | 65 ft | 56 ft 2 in | 500 lb | 22,100 lb (2WD) | 5 ft |
| Genie S-65 XC | 65 ft 1 in | 54 ft 2 in | 1,000 / 660 lb | About 24,900 lb (4WD) | Yes |
| Skyjack SJ66 T | 66 ft | 57 ft | 500 lb | 26,700 lb | 5 ft |
