Are indirect heater trailers safe?

An indirect fired heater is safe for use on a construction site or other enclosed space where people are present IF the heater is correctly vented in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. A reputable HVAC professional should always be consulted about the installation and use of an indirect fired heater. Indirect fired heaters work by creating a fire in an enclosed space. This space, called a heat exchanger, contains the exhaust produced by combustion and vents it out through a flue or chimney to the outside air. Meanwhile, fresh air passing over the heat exchanger is warmed, and this clean, uncontaminated air is used to heat the interior space where the heater is located. This is different from a direct fired heater, which works by heating air in an open combustion chamber or fireplace. The hot air, exhaust and all, is then forced outward. While this produces a great deal of heat, the fumes are dangerous to anyone nearby. Direct fired heaters are best used in open areas or must be extremely well ventilated for indoor use. In addition to the problem of exhaust, any heater, indirect or direct, is liable to become very hot. You must always take care to ensure that any flammable objects, or hazardous, volatile chemicals are kept well away from the heating unit. The manufacturer’s users manual for each particular model of heater will contain information about the specific safe zone required.

How much does it cost to ship an Indirect Heater Trailer?

Shipping an Indirect Heater 350 miles in 2023 will probably cost you about $950.

How many hours does an Indirect Heater Trailer last?

Properly cared for, and maintained in accordance with a manufacturer’s recommendations, an indirect heater should give service for many hours. Dealer and service representatives exist for all major manufacturers and can assist in keeping an indirect heater working at an optimal level. The warranties and recommendations of each manufacturer can give some indication of how long a heater might be expected to last. For example, Wacker Neuson warrants the HI 770XHD for five years, and states that it is designed to operate for 3,000 hours or 125 days before requiring an oil change. Heat Wagon warrants its heaters for one year against both defective workmanship and parts.
